i-FM, Barclays and BIFM to collaborate for third year

Leaders from the facilities management sector are being urged to share their views on the state of the sector following the launch of the British Institute of Facilities Management's (BIFM) third annual UK FM Business Confidence Monitor, which will be open for responses until Monday 16th January 2017.

Once again the professional body is collaborating with Barclays and publishers i-FM to measure buoyancy across the FM industry and gauge the current thinking and attitudes that sit at the heart of this dynamic and growing sector.

The monitor invites opinion on current business performance, future business plans and individual career prospects by canvassing the views of senior decision makers and the teams on the ground that deliver FM services throughout the UK.

The results of the 2017 survey will offer an insight into the current state of play within FM and act as a measure of overall business confidence for the coming 12 months. They will provide a deeper understanding of the impact of political and economic factors on the FM sector, such as Britain's decision to leave the EU, the rising National Living Wage and the forthcoming Apprenticeship Levy.

BIFM's Research and Information Manager Peter Brogan said: "The political landscape has changed significantly over the past year, although the full effects of Brexit are still to be realised by business. We hope that the FM Business Confidence Monitor will offer a strong steer of the overall direction of the FM marketplace and will seek to determine the economic factors and other influences affecting it. The outcome of this work will give us an accurate indication of the current state of play within the sector and an authentic forecast of overall business confidence for the sector over the coming 12 months."

This is also true of facilities management, which is a major sector in its own right, and provides a useful barometer for opinion in the wider business world.”

The survey closes on Monday 16 January 2017. It is open to everyone in the FM sector and all are urged to have their say.
