BIFM Ireland Awards 2016 shortlist revealed

The Ireland Region of the British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) has revealed the short-list of the BIFM Ireland Awards 2016. The announcement has been made ahead of the awards ceremony due to take place next week on Friday 25 November 2016 at Croke Park, Dublin.

Awards will be presented to the Ireland Region Young FM Professional of the Year and Ireland Region FM Professional of the Year.

Sponsored by TechSkills Resources, the awards are designed to acknowledge the facilities management professionals who have displayed exceptional skill, innovation and commitment to excellence across the region in the past year.

Shortlisted individuals for the Ireland Region FM Professional of the Year include;
Sarah Skeffington from Weston Facilities Services, Elaine Greenan from Waterford Institute of Technology, Noel Cleary from Sodexo and David Gormalley of MKF Property Services Ltd. Meanwhile the finalists for the Ireland Region Young FM Professional of the Year includes Bernie McManamon from Sodexo and Daniel O'Mahony from ARUP.

Pat Gaughan, Chair, BIFM Ireland Region said: “The professionals shortlisted represent the strength, depth and diversity of the facilities management industry. As a profession we encompass so many disciplines and our shortlist reflects just how important we are in keeping the wheels turning in the local economy.”

Former Ireland Region FM Professional of the Year and 2016 judge Trevor Smyth said: “The standard of submissions to this year’s awards was so strong, with entries coming in from all sectors of the FM industry, and across the entire Ireland region. It was a difficult task for all the judges to score and select the very best professionals from such a strong pool, so if you made it to the shortlist you should be very proud of the standard of your entry and contribution to enhancing the reputation of facilities management.”

Winners of this year’s awards will be able to claim €500 towards a professional development activity of their choosing, courtesy of awards sponsor TechSkills Resources. The prize selection is designed to further enhance the professional development of those committed FM professionals who can use these awards as a platform to progress their careers.

The judging panel of the BIFM Ireland Awards consists of industry professionals who possess a diverse range of expertise including; Avril Behan, Assistant Head at the School of Multidisciplinary Technologies at the College of Engineering & Built Environment of the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT), Trevor Smyth, Facilities Site Lead, Google Ireland and Ireland Region FM Professional of the Year at the BIFM Ireland Awards 2015, and Linda Hausmanis, Acting CEO of BIFM.

Des Maguire from TechSkills Resources said: “Our business foundations are built on our core values of passion, professionalism, integrity and innovation, all of which have been displayed in this shortlist. It is an honour to be able to be a part of these awards and look forward to enabling the winners to develop their professional skills.”
