PiMS Workspace flies into Gatwick

PiMS Workspace flies into Gatwick
PiMS Workspace has been appointed by Gatwick Airport Ltd, to analyse and assess the efficiency of its office environments.

PiMS Workspace was selected to audit the office space by measuring the utilisation and occupation throughout four of Gatwick Airport Ltd’s buildings, all of which are located in the North and South Terminals of the London airport. The workspace analysis was made in preparation for Gatwick Airport Ltd’s implementation of a new and improved workplace strategy.

The analysis focused on the overall use and efficiency of every working environment including meeting areas, break out spaces and training rooms. The audit was conducted by a team of PiMS Workspace professionals who were implemented on-site for a period of two weeks.

The audit team also observed the overall level of occupancy, assessing the number of staff actually populating the building on a daily basis. Throughout the period of occupancy analysis, the team made over 55,000 observations, analysing over 700 different locations, all of which are located on a total of 18 floors in the airport’s buildings.

Each individual location was observed at regular intervals throughout a working day, before details of the observation were uploaded via PiMS Workspace’s mobile technology and the software, ‘PiMS Locator Anywhere’.

The utilisation of 50 different meeting areas was also closely audited to assess efficiency within these workspaces across Gatwick Airport Ltd’s portfolio of properties.

Naomi Wild, Property Asset Manager at Gatwick Airport Ltd, said: “PiMS Workspace’s audit and analysis has clearly revealed the true efficiency of our working environments, as well as the staff occupation levels on a day-to-day basis. PiMS has provided us with the data that is difficult to gather when reviewing working environments as vast as ours. Accessing this data is the first step in assessing how well our workspace currently functions and the findings will equip us with the evidence we need to implement a new and improved workplace strategy.”
