World FM Day on Wednesday 17th May

World FM Day is the global celebration of facilities management recognising the vital work that facilities management professionals and the facilities management industry contributes to business worldwide.

Despite employing a large proportion of the UK working population (with some estimates as high as 10%) and potentially representing 7% of the UK’s overall GDP, there is still a lack of understanding surrounding facilities management and the impact it makes to business, the economy and society.

World FM Day aims to raise the profile of the FM profession across all sectors and anywhere FMs influence the health, safety, productivity and wellbeing of people who use the built environment.

The theme for 2017 is ‘Enabling Positive Experiences’ and will highlight how facilities management plays an integral role in positive customer, client and employee experience in all sectors, whether it is residential, retail, recreational or any other.

Central to this will be sharing stories of the people who make facilities management happen, with a focus on the teams on the ground delivering exceptional FM on a daily basis for the benefit of all.

Planned promotional activity supported by the British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) will include:
•    A series of World FM Day events organised by BIFM’s regional groups and Special Interest Groups
•    An in-depth look at the value of FM with insights from practising FM professionals from around the world
•    Case studies highlighting the people who work within facilities management across all sectors
•    Case studies highlighting the ways in which FM professionals make a difference to the working lives of others
