INTERSERVE IN £4.4M REDEVELOPMENT OF STOURBRIDGE SCHOOL

Interserve Group Limited, the international support services, construction and equipment services group, has completed a £4.4m redevelopment of Ridgewood High School, in Stourbridge on behalf of the Department for Education (DofE).

Interserve Construction was responsible for the design and build of a new teaching block and refurbishment of the sports hall through the DofE’s Construction Framework as part of its Priority Schools Building Programme.

The project, which was delivered in partnership alongside Stour Vale Multi-Academy Trust and the Metropolitan Borough of Dudley, was completed on deadline in spite of restrictions encountered in the current COVID-19 pandemic with all Interserve Construction staff observing strict social distancing rules.

Interserve refurbished the existing sports hall and changing rooms block which was remodelled to provide better access to staff changing areas and level access shower rooms.

Simon Butler, Divisional Director at Interserve Construction, said: “The successful delivery of this new building for Ridgewood High School reflects Interserve’s wide-ranging experience and capabilities in delivering first-rate education projects across the UK and adds to our strategic portfolio of school work in the West Midlands.”

Other school and education projects delivered by Interserve Construction in the West Midlands include Moorgate Primary School, Tamworth; Wood End Primary School, Wolverhampton; Turves Green Boys School, Birmingham and a new teaching block at RSA Academy for Sandwell Futures.

Ridgewood High School Head Teacher, Rae Cope said: “The new building looks fantastic. It has helped staff and students take renewed pride in the school and the new development will contribute to improving educational achievement and benefit all our students, staff and the community generally."
