Servest Multi Service Group wins Sainsbury’s work

Following a year of discussions with Sainsbury’s about potential opportunities, Servest was invited to tender for a range of cleaning tasks at the retailer’s huge regional distribution centre in Dartford, Kent.

The 673,000ft2 Dartford regional distribution centre (RDC) also houses a recycling unit and facilities for vehicle maintenance.

Servest’s contract covers cleaning of the warehouse, vehicle maintenance and recycling facilities, including grocery and fresh chambers plus external and common areas including offices, canteens and toilets. The work requires heavy duty specialist equipment with clear health and safety implications.

Mike Breslin, the Site General Manager for Sainsbury’s, said: “It was evident from the start of the tender process that Servest had the experience and knowledge of operating in big sites such as Dartford. I was particularly impressed with their views on colleague motivation and involvement.

“There were lots of examples of innovative solutions employed elsewhere which could be of benefit to the site and although only early days, there is already an improvement in hygiene standards with the promised reduction on costs.”
