Servest encourages retailers to prepare for Black Friday crowds

With the influx of people expected to grace the high-street for Black Friday, Servest is encouraging retailers to prepare accordingly. For those stores taking part in Black Friday, it’s important to consider in-store security plans. Retailers are being encouraged to ensure their security guards are supported by the latest security technology, including alarms, access control, surveillance cameras, and communications systems, in order to cope with the demand this Black Friday.
 
Jason Etherington, Managing Director of Servest Security, has said: “We would advise that retailers conducting a thorough risk assessment, to help businesses gauge whether the security provision needs to be enhanced ready for this year’s shopping spree. It’s important that retailers ensure they create a safe, secure working environment; not just to protect their employees and goods, but also to safeguard their customers.”
 
With more people, and bigger sales, comes more to clean and standards to maintain. Cleaning and maintenance teams should therefore also be readily prepared. The footfall and demands on business are heightened during the Black Friday and precautionary measures, expert planning and in-depth preparation need to take place. The world’s largest deals day can otherwise take a toll on businesses.
 
The rise in online shopping and the increased reliance on next day delivery puts a great deal of pressure on distribution teams to meet these expectation, preparation at logistics sites is therefore also key. In order to meet this demand, bigger and more efficient distribution centres have been built. These centres are often a hive of activity, especially during peak retail events or seasons, and the need operate more seamlessly than ever.
 
Servest’s Managing Director of Retail, Vince Treadgold, urges retailers to work with their service providers on making sure all eventualities are covered, and a plan is in place for before, during, and after. “It’s so important to create the right environment, to ensure customers have a pleasant and enjoyable shopping experience, particularly during peak times. As we are all too aware, Black Friday is a busier-than-usual time in stores, and often normality goes out the window, in terms of shopping codes of practice.”
