Greenwich clean time

Support services and construction group, Interserve, has won a £960,000, three-year contract to clean the University of Greenwich’s three campuses at Avery Hill, Greenwich, and Medway, in Chatham Maritime, Kent.

Interserve will provide daily cleaning, janitorial and porterage services across the 70,000sq.m  estate, supporting 23,000 students and 2,000 staff. The estate includes sports and leisure facilities, canteens, theatres, lecture halls, libraries and common areas.

The 100 staff transferring to Interserve will benefit from Interserve’s Cleaning Apprenticeship, backed by Asset Skills, the Sector Skills Council for facilities management and cleaning. This apprenticeship has been developed and piloted by Interserve to offer employees the opportunity to develop their job-related skills.

Lee Devlin, Head of Campus Services, University of Greenwich, said: “One of the significant reasons for choosing Interserve is their commitment to reducing our impact on the environment, utilising our supply chain in this way ensures we have a sustainable and cost-efficient approach to cleaning across our campuses.”
