Dieselec Thistle, one of the UK’s largest independent generator specialists, has been awarded a sole supplier contract by Scottish Water for the supply of diesel generators. Following on from an extensive procurement exercise, Scottish Water has awarded a five-year contract (three years with two single year extensions), this is the first sole supplier framework to be awarded to a generator supplier by Scottish Water. The move follows a five-year relationship between Scottish Water and both Dieselec and Thistle, the two companies that joined forces to become Dieselec Thistle in December 2010.
The new arrangement ensures that Dieselec Thistle Generators will supply all Scottish Water’s standby diesel generator needs, including supply, mechanical installation, testing, commissioning, maintenance and fuel management in a deal that could be worth several million pounds.
The sole supplier agreement is a major coup for Dieselec Thistle as the company used to share Scottish Water’s standby generator requirements with another major provider. It builds on a number of supplier frameworks that Dieselec Thistle already has in place, including sole supply contracts with a major retailer and a utility company. The generator specialist will be supplying generators ranging in capacity from 100Kva to 2,000Kva for sites all over Scotland, many of which are in remote locations.
Sales Director of Dieselec Thistle Generators, Brian Muirie, commented: “Our success in winning this sole supplier deal reflects our dynamic growth over the past year and we are now uniquely placed to service a framework like this in Scotland. The technical and logistical demands of delivering Scottish Water’s needs across their network of sites call for reliable expertise and a proactive, experienced approach and they have worked with us long enough to be confident that we can deliver that.”
