SPIE UK SECURES MAINTENANCE DEAL WITH NMWTRA

SPIE UK has won a new five-year maintenance contract with the North and Mid Wales Trunk Road Agent (NMWTRA).

The work will see the company carry out ongoing maintenance and refurbishment as well as upgrading aging technology to support an Intelligent Transport System.

For the duration of the contract, SPIE UK will be responsible for term maintenance to NMWTRA’s Area Network assets, responsive fault call outs and repair and emergency support services and upgrading and replacing assets.

NMWTRA manages, maintains and delivers improvements on the strategic road network in North and Mid Wales on behalf of the Welsh Government. It operates on the basis of a partnership between the eight North and Mid Wales local authorities. The service covers 1080 kilometres (670 miles) of trunk road including three A55 tunnels.

The win sees SPIE UK build upon its 25-year relationship with NMWTRA.

Steve Henry, Operations Manager at SPIE UK, said: “We’re incredibly pleased to be chosen by NMWTRA to help them maintain and upgrade their road network to ensure it can best serve those that use it. Our longstanding relationship is testament to the quality of the work our colleagues have carried out over the past 25 years and I look forward to taking that success with us into the future.”

Geraint Jones, Tunnel and Technology Unit Manager at NMWTRA, said: “The competence and expertise of the SPIE UK team was clear to see and we’re confident that they will deliver against our expectations and those of our road users. Ensuring that our roads are safe and well maintained is our top priority and we believe that the skills and capabilities that SPIE bring mean that they are best placed to help us do that.”
